How to Recover a Lost or Forgotten Password ?

View passwords saved by Google Chrome (or Edge, Firefox, Opera…)
In this tutorial, I will show you how to display all the usernames and passwords saved by your browser: Google, Gmail, Outlook, Hotmail, Yahoo, Orange, La Poste, EDF…
This can be very useful if you want to find login details saved on your computer, for example to connect from another device. It will save you from having to create a new password.
I will explain the steps to follow directly in your web browser.
From my experience, banks generally avoid using typed passwords, even with two-factor authentication. Instead, they often use a numeric code entered with the mouse, which is more secure than typing a password.
For administrative websites, I also recommend using FranceConnect whenever possible. It allows you to log in to multiple government websites with the same credentials. For example, if you know your tax account login, you can access the health insurance website (Ameli) without creating a new account.
For your information, a short password made only of numbers is called a PIN code (usually 4 to 6 digits). Be careful not to confuse it with your phone’s SIM PIN code. I recommend checking an IT glossary if you want to learn more.
Tip: If you are trying to unlock your Outlook, Hotmail, or Microsoft account, I recommend reading the dedicated article on this topic.
